Kellie Houge, 51 was homeless for 9 years, strung out on meth and had lost all three of her children due to her meth usage. Kellie showed up at the homeless shelter run by the Merced County Community Action Agency. After a comprehensive assessment, Kellie was placed into permanent housing. Kellie was placed in a four-plex in 2009 and since her placement has stayed drug-free and off of the streets. Kellie continues to participate in job training programs and works with a counselor to ensure she is dealing with her issues. Since entering the housing Kellie has re-connected with her family and has real hope for the future.
